Between April and June, a span of about 100 days, 800,000 Tutsis and Hutus were killed. It all started with the killing of their President, who's plane was shot down. It was said that the Hutus were trying to eliminate the Tutsis population. The Tutsis led a military campaign to control the country but by then about 800,000 Tutsis and Hutus were killed. Two million Hutus fled to Zaire were they joined forces with the Zairean people to attack local Tutsis; most of the Hutus were responsible for the massacre. After making a peace deal Kinshasa, Rwanda was accused of training rebel troops in DR Congo which they denied. Now the country is trying to rebuild their economy.

This article was very shocking because the killing of 800,000 people in 100 days is crazy. This all pretty much started because of the killing of the Rwanda president. I think it was very rude for the United States and other places not to aid them in their time of need. 800,000 people dying in war is too many. Also what I thought was interesting was that many Genocides happened along time ago but this one happened now and just ended with a peace deal this year.

I learned that during the Holocaust like 5 million Jews were killed and like 17 million people were killed. The Germans didn't like Catholics, Hungarians, and especially Jews. They forced people to leave their home thinking they were just helping them but actually just sending them to concentration camps where they were immediately killed or sent to work camps. One of the most efficient ways they killed people was putting them into gas chambers, but told them they were going to take a shower, then they were suffocated. What really struck me the most was when they showed the baby stuff. Right when the babies arrived they were sent to die. What I thought was most powerful was when Elie said they weren't shocked by death anymore it was all around them. They didn't have to live with death, they lived in death. I didn't really learn anything I didn't already know. I would like to learn how Elie's trip went to the concentration camp and how he felt while he was coming, then once he got there. I know that the book is probably going to be very sad.

I do like to read just not a lot. I only read if the book is really good, other wise I get bored. I like to read suspense stories. One of my favorite books is The Running Dream and 13 Reasons Why. I don't like a lot of books one of the recent books I read that I didn't like was Beastly. I am not currently reading a book now but the last book I read was The Running Dream. The Running Dream was a really good book. The Running Dream is about a girl that loves to run, her favorite sport is track. She is on her way to a meet with her team, when the bus crashes and she loses her leg. Losing your leg is hard for a regular person but she loves to run, that is all she does. So she goes through a hard time thinking she will never be able to run again but her teammates raise enough money for her to get a fake running leg. While she is having problems with her leg she meets a girl that gives her an idea. This girl is really smart but can't walk. So she has a running dream where she is going to run 10 miles pushing the girl in the wheel chair the whole way.
